I have been using natural indigo to dye with for some ten years and felt there is a market for a book which covered the many different ways indigo can be dyed with from fermented vats, using fresh leaves, to the zinc lime vat. However my favourite method of using indigo is by the reduction vat and I have taken great pains to set this out in a clear easy to follow series of steps that will enable the reader to dye wool, cotton and silk to a deep dark blue. I sold a lot of copies to participants and visitors who came on my course at the biennial summer school of Weavers Spinners and Dyers at Falmouth in August 2007 and I have had many positve feedbacks on how easy it is to read and to follow as well as success stories too. of those who have succeeded to dye with indigo as a result of reading it.
The booklet is self published on a colour laser printer and each cover is handpainted in indigo and so each booklet is unique. Cover may differ from the photograph shown. |
