Extracts of Natural Dyes.

These dyes, which are concentrated extracts of natural dyes extend the range of the natural dyer. They are very easy to use as they come in powder form and can just be mixed with water ready for use on prepared fabrics and fibres.  I paint fibres and fabrics and felt with the dyes and also sometimes modify a traditional immersion bath with them.  You can also create an immersion bath too. At the moment there are two different but complementary ranges.

Earthues, which were for many years the only contender on the market have a superb range , the cochineal, lac madder , osage orange , logwood grey and logwood purple are particularly good .  These dyes are produced in the United States  and available here in the UK from The Mulberry Dyer www.mulberrydyer.co.uk

The Tinctoria Dyes which come from India and with the superb lac, annatto and rhubarb root to name just a few extend the range of the extract dyes. These can be found at www.pure-tinctoria.designsales.co.uk

Debbie Tomkins of DT Craft & Design now also sells a range of extract dyes, mostly Earthues but others also and a range of yarns for dyeing too.  She can be found at www.dtcrafts.co.uk
