Garden in August
Goldenrod (Canadensis Solidago) and Genista Tinctoria
I have my own dye garden. This was created and is maintained for me by Enys Davies, whose grandmother grew herbs in her own garden and taught Enys much of what she knows about the use of herbs. For many years Enys grew dye plants in her own garden, fascinated by the fact that they produced colour, but not using them till we started collaborating. We grow such dyes plants as dyers green weed, woad, weld, goldenrod, madder, ladies bedstraw coreopsis tinctoria and many more. Last year when we opened the garden for the first time I counted 55 dye plants.
